「
What is SMuFL?」
SMuFL is a specification that provides a standard way of mapping the hundreds of musical symbols required by conventional music notation into the Private Use Area in Unicode’s Basic Multilingual Plane for a single OpenType font.
(略)
The goal of SMuFL is to establish a new standard glyph mapping for musical symbols that is optimised for OpenType fonts and that can be adopted by a variety of software vendors and font designers, for the benefit of all users of music notation software.
「
Who needs SMuFL?」
You may be interested in SMuFL if you are:
o developing software that displays music notation;
o developing fonts for music notation software; or
o interested in how music notation can be encoded or represented in intermediate formats, such as MEI or MusicXML.
Since it is merely a standard and not itself a font, SMuFL is probably not useful for individual users of music notation software, though such people might find it useful to refer to the documentation for information about the meaning of individual music symbols.
